The use of Chromebooks to support and enhance educational activities is growing in our district. We want to ensure that Cairo-Durham graduates are equipped with the 21st century skills they need to succeed in school and the workforce.
In addition to the 1:1 Connected Classroom initiative, which aims to provide all middle/high school students with their own Chromebook laptops to use throughout the school year, new devices are being implemented in classrooms at the elementary level. To develop the skills of our K-5 students, we're beginning to introduce more educational technology at a younger age.
For example, second graders in Mrs. Russell’s class used Chromebook laptops to create their own informational “fact books.” They showed off their technology skills by researching their topics, finding images, and creating their books in Google Slides. These skills are foundational to their future successes in school and the workforce.
Shout out to Mrs. Morehouse from the IT Department for her guidance!
