As part of our new 1:1 Connected Classroom initiative, the district plans to provide all middle/high school students with their own Chromebook laptops to use during the school year—at no direct cost to our families. Chromebook distribution will take place over the next year or two, eventually equipping all students in Grades 6-12 with laptops to enhance their educational experiences in school and at home.
The 7th Grade Chromebook Distribution Nights will take place at the end of January. In order for your 7th grade child to receive their assigned Chromebook, a parent or a guardian must attend one of the three informational meetings (all meetings start at 6 p.m. in the HS/MS auditorium):
Tuesday, January 23, 2018
Wednesday, January 24, 2018
Thursday, January 25, 2018
We will distribute a Chromebook laptop to each 7th grade student at these informational meetings. The Chromebook, charger, and bag will be used in the classroom and at home for educational purposes. Teachers will vary in their specific uses of Chromebooks, but you can expect your child to use the Chromebook for instruction, assignments, projects, research and assessments throughout the school day.
In addition to Chromebook distribution, you will hear presentations on Chromebook care and Internet Safety. You will also have opportunities to ask questions and gather input on how to assist your child in managing this new responsibility.
We look forward to seeing all 7th grade students and families at the Chromebook distribution nights in late January. If you have any questions or concerns please call or email the CDMS main office at 518-622-0490 or firstname.lastname@example.org
This “1:1” Connected Classroom initiative marks the beginning of an era at our schools in which students will have immediate access to information via their own computers. We hope this Connected Classroom initiative will bring the 21st Century to the forefront, as well as engage your children in additional critical thinking, collaboration, and communication activities.
To ensure you and your student have enough information about the Connected Classroom initiative as well as answers to common questions/concerns, we have developed a new website section as a convenient reference. To see frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers about topics such as the 1:1 program, Chromebook devices, internet access, web filters/controls, technical support, parent/student responsibilities and more, please visit the Connected Classroom webpage.
