All year long, the Senior Peer Mentors have been working with the STAR 9 to help them transition into the high school, provide any support they may need and create long lasting bonds.
For their end-of-the-year trip, they toured SUNY Albany and got a first-hand account of college life from a former Cairo-Durham student, Michalina Kulesza. Michalina began undergraduate studies at SUNY Albany after graduating from Cairo-Durham High School in 2015.
When visiting the university, the STAR 9 freshmen were able to get their first exposure to college and college living while the Senior Peer Mentors were able to ask questions that they have currently as they prepare to go off to college this summer. The students really enjoyed the opportunity, as well as spending time with each other just to hang out.
