Educators from the Center for Vascular Awareness in Albany visited Biology students at Cairo-Durham High School on April 11 for V-Healthy Day. The day is devoted to teaching students about the importance of maintaining a healthy vascular system. Students learned about the effects of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking and genetics on their vascular health. They used sphygmomanometers to take blood pressure.
Students will also have an opportunity to qualify for a $1,000 scholarship for post-secondary education by participating in a blood pressure project for class.
