Antonio Brooks is Cairo-Durham High School’s May Student of the Month. Antonio is graduating this month as the school’s Salutatorian, with a weighted GPA of 100.5. He is taking a difficult course load with many AP classes, such as: College Physics, AP European History, AP Government and AP Calculus. Antonio attributes much of his success to, “a genuine curiosity for knowledge. I am extremely hard working and set high standards for myself.”
Outside of the classroom, Antonio plays soccer and volleyball, is part of National Honor Society, participates in the spring musical and has participated in NYSSMA, All County and Area All State. Ms. Clarmont, his vocal teacher, describes Antonio as, “flying under the radar but has a heart of gold, and is a good student to boot.” His peers would say that he is “a nice guy to those around him and stands by his convictions.”
When not in school, Antonio enjoys spending time outside, hiking, and martial arts. He also loves studying philosophy. After high school Antonio is going to attend Cornell University and study bioengineering. Cairo-Durham is very proud of students like Antonio and wishes him the best as he moves onto college in the fall!
