Cairo-Durham High School students taking Physics participated in Mrs. Manoli's "Egg-Drop" activity last week. The students had a blast testing the effects of gravity!
The Cairo-Durham High School Civic Readiness group is collecting hygiene products for the Mustang Closet!
The Mustang Closet is a place in the high school that is intended to be stocked with personal hygiene products that will be available to students who may need them to support their basic needs in school or at home. Monetary or product donations are needed, and will be collected through May 26, 2024.

Cairo-Durham Central School District 2024-25 Budget Passes,
Three Board Members Elected
May 21, 2024, CAIRO, NY – The Cairo-Durham Central School District is excited to announce the results of the 2024-25 budget vote and Board of Education election that took place from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Cairo-Durham High School Distance Learning room on May 21, 2024.
The proposed 2024-25 Cairo-Durham Central School District Budget in the amount of $37,107,106 has been approved by the following vote:
__237___ YES
__107___ NO
The proposition to purchase two (2) thirty-five (35) passenger buses with three (3) wheelchair seatings in each bus, one (1) transit van and two (2) minivans for $465,000 was approved by the following vote:

The proposition to increase the annual appropriation of maintaining the Cairo Public Library by $768 to the total amount $21,745 was approved by the following vote:

Congratulations to Dacota S. for being named the Cairo-Durham High School Wellness Club's "Beast of the Month" for April 2024! Dacota is a very dedicated member of the Wellness Club and has increased his bench press by 30 pounds since he started participating. He is very motivated to keep getting stronger and improving upon his overall wellness.

Cairo-Durham Elementary School's PBIS Committee is hosting its annual "Special Person Dance" on Friday May 31, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Cairo-Durham Elementary School gym! Students are invited to bring a person special to them for a great night of fun and dancing!
Please note that the original date listed on the school's calendar had the dance scheduled for May 23, 2024. The dance will take place on Friday, May 31, 2024! Paper copies will be sent home with students soon!

The Cairo-Durham High School Distance-Learning Anatomy & Physiology class recently visited Albany Medical Center to learn about the brain! Students handled cadaver brains and observed all of its structures.
Also, students visited the Patient Safety & Clinical Competency Center at Albany Medical College, where high-tech patients act out symptoms for doctors and nurses to practice their skills on them. Our students and staff enjoyed the visit!

The Cairo-Durham Elementary School Art Show showcasing animal-themed artwork created by Pre-Kindergarten-5th grade students will take place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Cairo-Durham Middle and High School hallway leading to the Auditorium!

Attention Prospective 2024-25 Pre-Kindergarten Families:
The lottery drawing for full-day Pre-K for the 2024-25 school year will take place on May 21 at 10 a.m.
Completed registration packets to be included in the lottery drawing are due to the Elementary School Main Office by May 20, 2024 at noon. Only 18 full-day slots are available for the 2024-25 school year. The drawing can be viewed live online or parents/guardians are welcome to attend in person.
The District is still accepting half-day AM/PM Pre-K applications, as well. Those applications will be accepted until all slots are filled. For more information, please contact Joanne Cleary at 518-622-3231.

Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Whitbeck, and Ms. Licis celebrated the 3rd grade students in their class for their outstanding effort on the New York State Math Exam this week!
The students enjoyed a chocolate fountain with marshmallows, graham crackers, fresh, strawberries, and fresh bananas! Their friends in the Thompson/Lopez class also enjoyed the treats!

Mrs. MacGiffert's AM Pre-Kindergarten class at Cairo-Durham Elementary School had Questar III BOCES Model School Specialist, Kasey LaBarge, make her final visit to Pre-Kindergarten on May 6, 2024, where students used iPad Minis to explore OSMO.
The class explored an interactive drawing program where students met "Mo the Friendly Monster". The kids enjoyed this and look forward to spending more time using the program!
