Congratulations to Cairo-Durham High School Digital Photography student Emily Moon for taking home TWO awards at the Capital Region Media Arts Festival on April 23, 2024! Her photos titled, "Red Meets Blue" and "Schizophrenia" were recognized for her skills demonstrated in the categories of "Abstraction" and "Special Photographic Processes". In addition, the following Cairo-Durham High School Media Arts students also had their artwork selected for this exhibit: Jessica Baeckmann, Elexandreah Desmarais, Hanna Budz. Abby Hartmann, Jeremiah Newkirk, Aishwarya Thakur and Sam Winig. Their work was selected by a panel of Capital Region art educators and then adjudicated by art professionals. Congratulations, Mustangs!

Save the dates! The New York State ELA and Math exams are around the corner. Students in grades 3-8 will take the ELA exam on April 30-May 1, 2024 and the Math exam on May 14-15, 2024. On April 24, 2024, Cairo-Durham High School students Emma Kargoe, Colin MacGiffert and Tashana James and Cairo-Durham High School music teacher Sarah Clermont were recognized at the Capital District YMCA Student and Educator Breakfast at Pegasus in Coxsackie! The students and Ms. Clermont, along with the other Greene County school district recipients, were honored for their achievements inside and outside of the classroom. Representing Cairo-Durham Central School District, Superintendent Michael Wetherbee and Cairo-Durham High School Principal Catherine Dodig attended the event and are extremely proud of our Mustangs!

Attention Prospective 2024-25 Pre-Kindergarten Families: The lottery drawing for full-day Pre-K for the 2024-25 school year will take place on May 21 at 10 a.m. Completed registration packets to be included in the lottery drawing are due to the Elementary School Main Office by May 20, 2024 at noon. Only 18 full-day slots are available for the 2024-25 school year. The drawing can be viewed live online or parents/guardians are welcome to attend in person. The District is still accepting half-day AM/PM Pre-K applications, as well. Those applications will be accepted until all slots are filled. Since March, the 5th grade class at Cairo-Durham Elementary School has been engaged in an exciting fundraising initiative to gather funds for their second annual trip to Casa Vallarta in Lake Katrine for a festive Cinco De Mayo lunch! Students have been operating a coffee cart called "All That Java", offering a delightful selection of beverages including hot and iced coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and an array of desserts. With responsibilities ranging from taking orders to preparing beverages on the spot, students have been actively involved in every aspect of the operation. The 5th grade team extends heartfelt appreciation to the entire elementary school community for their unwavering support and generosity throughout this fundraiser. We extend our sincerest gratitude to the families of our students for their donations and assistance, as their contributions have made this memorable experience possible.
