Students in Kindergarten were filled with wonder and excitement upon receiving beautiful, new decodable books from Syllasense (SyllaSense Inc).
These books were purchased from the Dollar General grant received earlier this fall. SyllaSense Decodable Readers provide opportunities for students to develop and practice grapheme-phoneme correspondence as well as an understanding of orthographic conventions, morphology, and high frequency words.
The Cairo-Durham High School Class of 2026 is selling Cinnabon to raise funds for our prom next year! Please fill out the Google Form from the QR code in the poster and drop off money to a class officer, Mr. Yaple, or Mr. Hitchen! The cut-off date for orders is March 8, 2024 with estimated delivery on March 21, 2024.
The Cairo-Durham Middle School Student Council is sponsoring a "Glow Dance" on Friday, March 22 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Cairo-Durham Middle School! Pre-sale tickets are available during announcements the week of March 18-21 for $8, and tickets will be available for $10 at the door. Concessions will be available for purchase at the dance.
Students are encouraged to wear neon, glow sticks, or anything that shows up under the black lights! Can't wait to see you there!
Mark your calendars! Pre-K and Kindergarten Orientation for the 2024-25 school year at Cairo-Durham Elementary School will take place on the following dates:
- Kindergarten: March 19, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (Student must be turning 5-years old on or before Dec. 1, 2024.)
- Pre-K: March 26, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (Student must be turning 4-years-old on or before Dec. 1, 2024.)

Cairo-Durham High School and Questar III BOCES Welding junior Connor Alberson has been busy fabricating the stands for the Cat'n Around Catskill" celebration in downtown Catskill under the supervision of and with assistance from Cairo-Durham High School alumni Augie Freeman!
Students were able to view a preview of tonight's opening of "Newsies". Show starts at 7 tonight! Tickets can be purchased at the door, first come, first serve!
The Cairo-Durham Class of 2024 is hosting a "Nothing Bundt" cake fundraiser! Each Bundt cake costs $7, with orders and payments due to the Cairo-Durham High School Main Office by March 3, 2024. Orders will be delivered on March 14, 2024, or March 15, 2024 (Superintendent's Conference Day) at Cairo-Durham High School.
Available flavors are the following:
Lemon, White Chocolate Raspberry, Red Velvet, Chocolate Chip, Classic Vanilla, Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip and Oreo Cookies and Cream.

"Penny Wars" are coming to Cairo-Durham Middle School from March 4 to March 14! The three grade levels will compete to see which class can collect the most points through accumulating pennies. Beware, as there will be opportunities to sabotage the other classes!
Collection buckets for each grade will be found outside of classrooms and point scales will be posted. See the Cairo-Durham Middle School bulletin board for more information on where to find your bucket and points totals.
The class that collects the most points wins a Stewart’s Ice Cream party! Best of luck!
