NJHS will continue participating for each holiday through the remainder of the year. Fantastic job, students!

The January Student of the Month for Cairo-Durham High School is Tashana James, a Junior in the class of 2024. Tashana’s social studies teacher, Mr. Bryan Pisano, describes her as, “an excellent student. She has the highest average in my US History class and got the highest grade on the midterm. She is respectful and participates in class.” All of Tashana’s grades are 97% or higher and she believes she is successful because she always gives her best effort.
In addition to doing well in her classes, Tashana is on the indoor and outdoor track teams. Ms. Moritz, Tashana’s indoor track coach, states that she “was an asset to our team. She always gave it her all at practice and at meets. She competed in three events (300m, 45m, and long jump) at every meet and finished in the top six in all three.” Additionally, she is part of the National Honor Society. She is the most active member of the NHS, helping tutor students after school every week. Her peers describe her as funny, generous, and quiet. Overall, she is a wonderful role model for other students and athletes.
Outside of school, Tashana enjoys dancing, listening to music, and hanging out with her siblings. She also has a passion for fish. After high school Tashana plans to attend college but is currently unsure which one. Tashana is pictured here with her NHS Advisor, Mrs. Alison Manoli. Keep up the great work, Tashana! Cairo-Durham is very proud of you and the example you set for other students.
