Check out the creative work in Ms. Kuhn's 4th Grade class as students elaborately built "longhouses" out of construction paper and their desks. The landscape included rivers, mountains and land in between, as well as families and a fire for warmth inside. Great job, students!

Sarah Hasbrook, Cairo-Durham Elementary School's Resource Room teacher, collaborated with Miss Wagor's class to teach an OG(Orton-Gillingham) lesson. Two of Miss Wagor's students, Jaxon and Anthony, see Mrs. Hasbrook daily to work on phonics skills. This time, these two students became the co-teachers and had the opportunity to teach their class what they have learned so far this year! Way to go, Jaxon and Anthony!

For the past few weeks, Miss Wagor’s 5th grade class has been reading several science texts and working to determine the central idea and key details of each text. Students began with a short excerpt on the moon, followed by a lesson on identifying constellations. The scholars had the opportunity to create their own constellations with spaghetti and marshmallows. Next, students read how Pluto stopped being a planet. Students identified a key detail to support this claim, such as how a planet has to clear its neighborhood of smaller objects around its orbit to be considered a planet, which Pluto failed to do. Lastly, students read about how stars explode and included details leading up to the event. In conclusion, students were assigned a planet and a group where they conducted research on their planet. Then, they each created their own paper mache planets with flour, newspaper, water, paint, and hot glue!
