Ms. Rice's third-graders are learning about fractions! They worked on finding equivalent fractions using multiplication and division strategies, and stacked ice cream scoops on top of their cones to show equivalent fractions. Fractions never looked so sweet!

Ms. Flubacher’s fifth graders dissected owl pellets when they were learning about energy and ecosystems. They were able to discover what owls eat, then establish the energy flow and create a food pyramid based on what they discovered. They determined that owls were at the top of the pyramid, then the mouse (because of the mouse bones found in the pellets), then insects/bugs, and then plants at the bottom.
What’s your favorite word? One of CDEs favorite words is “grateful” after the Cairo Rotary Club donated dozens of brand new dictionaries to third grade classes. Student were so excited to receive their own dictionaries to take home!
The Cairo-Durham high school drama club came to CDE and performed the play Joseph and the technicolor dream coat for our 5th graders. It was an amazing show!
Fifth-graders in Mrs. Fitzgerald's class are stretching their legs and practicing their math skills with the many "Math Task" cards in the hallway.
Before break, student Naylor was recognized by the custodial staff for all his helpful efforts to keep our school clean and organized. Naylor lends a helping hand every day and takes pride in our school, so he was given his own official Cairo-Durham badge! #positivityInAction
