Dear Cairo-Durham Families and Community,
After careful consideration and extensive discussions, the District has decided to consolidate the middle and high school administrative leadership structure from two principals to a single 6-12 principal. Also, an additional assistant principal will be selected. This decision will take effect starting October 7th.
The District is committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. At the next Board meeting, the Board of Education will act on the following recommendations. Catherine Dodig will be appointed as the 6-12 Principal, Danielle Czech will be appointed as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services, and Austin Crittenden will be appointed as the second Assistant Principal in the MS/HS.
This shift is aimed at enhancing Cairo-Durham Middle and High School's operational efficiency and aligning their leadership team with the District’s academic goals. Here are the key reasons behind this transition:
Streamlined Leadership: Having a single principal overseeing grades 6-12 will streamline decision-making processes and create a more cohesive vision for our middle and high school programs. This unified approach will help ensure that our policies, strategies, and initiatives are consistent across all grades.
Improved Communication: With one principal, communication between staff, students, and families can become more direct and efficient. This change will facilitate a clearer flow of information and more cohesive interactions within our school community.
Enhanced Collaboration: The integration of leadership roles will foster greater collaboration between middle and high school teachers, promoting a more unified approach to curriculum development, student support, and professional development.
Optimized Resource Allocation: Consolidating leadership roles allows us to better allocate resources and support where they are needed most, ensuring that both middle and high school students receive the attention and resources necessary to thrive.
The middle and high school’s continued success and growth are significant to the District. Our faculty and staff’s dedication combined with their hard work are instrumental in our students’ achievements, and the District is confident that, together, our schools will navigate this transition smoothly.
Sincerely,
The Cairo-Durham Central School District
