Congratulations to the Class of 2024 Cairo-Durham Mustang Pride Hall of Fame Inductees, Bridget "Bunny: Agostinoni, Emily Brunner, Patricia Gibson and Caroline B. Pfleger who were recognized at the Shamrock House in East Durham on April 27, 2024!

Attention parents and students of the current 6th and 7th grade classes: Middle School Honors night is set for Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 6pm in the MS/HS Auditorium. If you are interested in taking Honors or Accelerated courses in the 2024-2025 school year, please be sure to attend our information night. We will speak about the course offerings, expectations, and process. The application will be shared that night. Current 8th grade students looking to take Honors or Accelerated classes in High School will attend the High School Honors night on May 30.

The modified baseball and softball teams both took losses to Germantown yesterday afternoon in very competitive games on the diamond. The next game for both teams is today (5/3) at home versus Catskill at 4:30.

April 30, 2024 Dear Cairo-Durham Central School District Families, I am writing to you today to inform you that school will be closed on Friday, May 24, 2024 through Tuesday, May 28, 2024. With a mild winter leading to a limited use of snow days, the District is able to lengthen the Memorial Day weekend. We hope the extended weekend, with Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024, will find students and staff refreshed for the final stretch of the 2023-24 school year when they return on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Save the dates! The New York State ELA and Math exams are around the corner. Students in grades 3-8 will take the ELA exam on April 30-May 1, 2024 and the Math exam on May 14-15, 2024. The Modified Softball Team defeated Watervliet yesterday afternoon by a score of 18-4 behind some outstanding defense by the Mustangs. The Modified Baseball Team lost to Watervliet by a score of 12-6 and their next game is at Greenville on Tuesday, 4/30.

The Iditarod runs a Musher Letter Writing Program each year, which allows students to write to participating mushers. The 6th graders in Ms. Murphy's classes wrote letters to their mushers they were assigned to for the Cairo-Durham Middle School "iKidarod" event in March, explaining what they had learned about the Iditarod and asking them questions about their experiences in this year's race. Ms. Murphy mailed all letters out right before Spring Break. 2024 Iditarod Champion, Dallas Seavey, and rookie musher, Bryce Mumford, have responded so far! Pictured here is Jayden M., Thomas S., and Dylan M. with their letters. We are looking forward to more mushers sending their responses!
