Middle school students and their mentors had an owl-themed group mentoring event where they made owls from pine cones and owl cupcakes to snack on. Group mentoring activities happen about every six weeks, but on a weekly basis the students meet with their mentors one-on-one to talk about school work, staying motivated, managing their studies and more.

Mr. Shufelt’s 7th grade math class collected and analyzed data on different topics, then evaluated each other’s data presentations via a gallery walk. The students focused on mean, median, mode, and range, as well as well as populations and sample sizes. Based on their analysis, they concluded that on average, 7th grade girls have seen more musicals than 6th grade girls. Another project examined how many sports are played by members of the boys and girls modified basketball teams.
