The Iditarod runs a Musher Letter Writing Program each year, which allows students to write to participating mushers. The 6th graders in Ms. Murphy's classes wrote letters to their mushers they were assigned to for the Cairo-Durham Middle School "iKidarod" event in March, explaining what they had learned about the Iditarod and asking them questions about their experiences in this year's race.
Ms. Murphy mailed all letters out right before Spring Break. 2024 Iditarod Champion, Dallas Seavey, and rookie musher, Bryce Mumford, have responded so far! Pictured here is Jayden M., Thomas S., and Dylan M. with their letters. We are looking forward to more mushers sending their responses!
NOTICE: The Cairo-Durham Middle School/High School Campus will be Emergency Releasing at 12:45 p.m. today, April 17, 2024, due to a water issue on campus.
Students will be sent home on their bus routes. If you would like to pick up your child, please plan to be at the Middle/High School campus at the 12:45 p.m. dismissal time. There will be no after school or evening activities, including athletics. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Sincerely,
The Cairo-Durham Central School District

The Legislative Exhibit is the flagship event for Youth Art Month, celebrating the visual arts, encouraging support for quality art programs and promoting art material safety. The New York State Art Teachers Association, in partnership with NYSUT and in collaboration with our New York State Legislators, organizes this exhibit annually.
The goals of the exhibit are to showcase art programs and to give talented student artists grades K-12 an opportunity to receive statewide recognition. The academic discipline of art is a critical component of a child’s education. Skills developed through visual arts experiences are unlike any other academic subjects and include promoting problem-solving, creativity, observation and communication. The visual arts are also a therapeutic resource for releasing stress and an excellent means of self-expression for students.
