2024 Mustang Pride Hall of Fame Nominations Open!
Do you know a person or community organization that has given extensive service to the Cairo-Durham Central School District? Nominate them for the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame!
To nominate a person or community organization, please use this nomination form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfMg8B8x-nRUYL-EkALeiWsyzpATC10DzL_WNcjTAiiZnQbAA/viewform?usp=sf_link). See below for the criteria. Nominations will be accepted through February 1, 2024.
The chosen nominees will be honored at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Shamrock House on April 27, 2024.
Criteria:
Nominees must have contributed to the improvement of Cairo-Durham CSD with extensive service through: academics, athletics, coaching, teaching, administration, employment, volunteerism and/or community service.
Nominees can be past or present staff members, school administrators, Board of Education members, alumni and community members or organizations. (Please note that a former student nominee must be out of school for at least 10 years to be considered for induction into the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame.)
Some examples of extensive service/support include (but are not limited to):
Academics (e.g., teaching, tutoring).
Involvement in school athletics (e.g., coaches, officials, volunteers).
Mentoring.
Volunteer work/community service.
Community relations.

The Mustang Pride Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to recognize individuals and/or groups who have worked to support public education in the Cairo-Durham CSD community.

The Thompson/Russell, Halwick/Beare and Whitbeck/Lopez classes at Cairo-Durham Elementary School received a special visit and presentation from Joseph Lopez, the son of Mrs. Lopez, who currently lives in France!
Mrs. Lopez felt it was fitting for the students who are actively learning about countries and their cultures to hear from someone directly that is living in a completely different culture than the students! The classes enjoyed baguettes, the French tradition of searching for a figurine in cake and learned basic phrases and words in French!
It's not too late to send our congratulations to the November 2023 Students of the Month at Cairo-Durham Middle School!

On March 14, 2024, the Cairo-Durham High School Classes are hosting an 'Elementary Teacher vs. Middle/High School Teacher' basketball game as a fundraiser! Tickets for entrance to the game will be sold, as well as concessions.
The CDTA will sell 50/50 tickets, with proceeds toward the CDTA Scholarship fund. The Booster Club will be selling School Merchandise.
The game ticket prices are:
Adults $5
Kids/Students $3

Students in Mrs. Fitzgerald's class at Cairo-Durham Elementary School built Christmas trees out of Legos and K'NEX during their time with Librarian Mrs. Rell on Dec. 22!
A special shoutout to Cairo-Durham High School Principal Catherine Dodig, who is being recognized at her alma mater of Columbia-Greene Community College as a member of the college's "Our Alumni are Everywhere" campaign! The exhibit of CGCC alumni making a difference, including Principal Dodig, will run at the college until the end of January!

Brittany, also known as "Miss D," is well-known for her love of all things banana-related and her passion for arts and crafts! She's been an invaluable part of Cairo-Durham Elementary School for 12 years and recently joined the 5th grade team in Miss Wagor's classroom, where she consistently assists all of the teachers with a smile.
In recognition of her dedication, the 5th grade team wanted to express their gratitude by joining together to gift her a fully equipped cricut machine and a banana bag to store it in! Thank you for all you do, Miss D.!
2nd Grade Teacher Mrs. Thompson was surprised by her class with a beautiful floral arrangement and handmade cards for her birthday! The students also learned to sing "Happy Birthday" in Spanish! Thank you to Mrs. Gabrielle for her help with the surprise and to Mr. Brooks for the Spanish lesson.

A spectacular job by our 4th grade team last week performing carols for businesses on Main Street in Cairo! Thank you to the Greene County Sheriff's Office for allowing our students and staff to cross the street safely!
